How To Choose The Right Corset Size

So you’ve decided that it’s time for your first, or a new, corset, but how do you know exactly what to order to ensure that you are getting the perfect fit to give you that perfect figure?

One thing that many of our customers have told us about was the worry of buying a corset online without being able to try it on - as it is with so many online shopping decisions. However here at True Corset we want you to have complete faith in your purchase and to know that you are buying a fantastic high quality corset without having to pay the extra cost required to subsidise the overheads of running a shop.

So to help you make the right decision we have provided a Sizing Guide along with each of our corsets to allow you to choose the correct size for you, and also to provide you with a guide regarding exactly how your beautiful new corset will make you look.

The most important thing that you need to do when selecting one of our gorgeous corsets is to know your waist measurement, and as a general rule of thumb we always recommend measuring your waist yourself (or get someone else to do it for you), rather than relying on the waist size of your clothes. If you think about the clothes currently in your wardrobe I bet there is a staggering array of sizes even though you don’t seem to change size with each new thing that you put on!

So to get an accurate waist measurement, you need to run a tape measure around the narrowest part of your torso. If your waist is narrower than your hips, then measure it at the narrowest point. Or if your waist is not narrower than your hips, or you have an athletic type straight body, then stand straight up and measure the point at which your elbows fall when your arms are hanging loosely by your sides, this is usually roughly in line with your navel.

You can then use this measurement to decide which will be the perfect corset for you. If you are choosing one of our fabulous fashion corsets then simply select the size that corresponds with your waist measurement and this will ensure you have a lovely comfortable fit. If you are looking at one of our fantastic steel boned or waist training corsets then follow the sizing guideline from your current waist size and from there you can calculate what your waist size will be when wearing the corset and make your decision based upon that. For example a steel boned corset will reduce your waist by up to 4-5 inches whereas a waist training corset will reduce your waist size by up to 6-7 inches, and so you simply select the corset size that corresponds to what your waist size will be when wearing the corset.

Whatever your waist measurement and whichever corset you choose, you can guarantee to both look and feel fabulous in one of our range of beautiful true corsets.
